Lombok Surfing

Surfing

Experience world-class surfing right at your doorstep in the crystal clear waters of Selong Belanak and its surrounds. The gentle rolling beach break at Selong Belanak is central to a number of surf breaks, offering uncrowded, quality year-round waves. No more than five minutes away you can find beginner to advanced waves at Mawi, Serangan and Are Guling. For a slightly longer drive Gerupuk, Ekas, Mawun and world renowned Desert Point.

Lombok Fishing

Fishing

Fishing is the lifeblood of the small seaside community living at the edge of Selong Belanak Bay. The surrounding waters are teeming with fish around the unspoiled coral reefs and large pelagics are known to congregate around the nutrient-rich waters of the nearby Java Trench. You’ll find a range of fish, including Giant Trevally, Sailfish and Mackerel. There are a number of options available; from renting a fishing boat from the village with their experienced fisherman to accompany you or join one of the operators in Kuta for all day tours.

Mount Rinjani volcano & surrounds

To the north of the island, you’ll find stunning waterfalls and lush tropical rainforests surrounding the famous Mount Rinjani volcano. Here, the fertile volcanic soils give life to an enormous variety of plant and animal species. The region is also perfect for farming, evidenced by the crops and terraced, emerald-green rice fields. For the more active, challenge yourself with a 4-day trek up the awe-inspiring Mount Rinjani volcano (3,726 metres). Alternatively there a number of untouched waterfalls you can visit closer to the south for a half day tour.

People of sasak villages

Traditional Sasak culture & villages

There’s an abundance of amazing things to discover in the villages of Lombok. Banyumulek is known for its clay pots, Kediri is where you’ll find the rural market, and the weaving village of Sukarara is where you can see the intricate process of traditional cloth being created first-hand. You can also learn about Sasak history from the local architecture at Sade, about 30 minutes drive from Selong Selo
